What to do when your car
needs Body Repair Work

If you are reporting an accident or body damage to your Insurance company

Step 1: Call Leons

We will answer all your questions and help you throughout the entire process.

If your car is drivable, bring it to Leons. We will help you deal with the insurance company, the damage appraisal and repair authorization process.

Headache Relief: If your car is not drivable, call Leons, we will arrange for a complimentary tow. That’s right, a free tow.

Step 2: FIle a Police Report

You may need a police report if the damage to your car is over $1,000.

How do you know the value of the damage? If you are in doubt, call Leons. We can help you through this process to ensure you make the right decisions.

In the vast majority of cases, if there is clearly visible damage to your vehicle, it will exceed $1,000.

If the police come to the scene, a report will be filed. If not, your car may need to be taken to a Collision Reporting Centre, where the report will be filed.

Headache Relief: If you decide to bring your car to Leons before you get a police report, we will make sure you get the police report done properly.

Step 3: Make an Insurance Claim

To get repairs covered by your insurance policy, you need to report the accident to your insurance company and get an insurance claim number.

Step 4: Find Out if You are Eligible for a Rental Car:

Once you have your claim number, your insurance company will tell you if you are eligible for a rental car while yours is being repaired.

Headache Relief: Leons works with all the major car rental companies and we will help you get preferred rental rates.

More Headache Relief: When you choose Leons, you won’t have to run around. We will have your rental car delivered to our premises.

Step 5: Leave your car with Leons

We will contact your insurance appraiser. We remove body panels, bumpers and other components as needed to expose hidden damage to your car. That lets the insurance appraiser see the full extent of the damage so you can get all the needed repairs to your vehicle covered by your insurance.

Step 6: Get a Repair Schedule

Leons and your insurance appraiser will agree on a timeframe for completing the repairs, so you know exactly when your car will be ready.

Step 7: Pick Up Your Car

At the appointed time, you will come into Leons to pick up your car. You will be given a full explanation of all the work done; what was repaired, what was replaced.

Headache Relief: Leons gives you a Lifetime Warranty on all the work we do on your car.

Auto body repair can be a big headache, especially if you’ve been in a collision.

By learning more about what to do and what to expect when your vehicle needs body repair and/or repainting, you’ll make better decisions and have fewer headaches.

When Do You Need Body Repair?

First, if you’ve just been in an accident, please visit “What to do if You’re in a Car Accident”.

But being in an accident isn’t the only time you’ll need to visit an auto body shop.

Over time, your car’s body and bumpers can suffer small dents and scratches that, by themselves, do not need repair, but together they affect the value, look and your enjoyment of the vehicle. They can also affect the assessment of your car for a lease return.

At other times, you may return to your car in a parking lot and notice it’s been hit, or you inadvertently strike a wall or post while parking. Rust is also a problem that can only be fixed with body work.

In all these cases, good body repair and painting will restore your car’s looks and value, and ensure that it is safe to drive.
